CNN Interviews Brainy Camp for Autism Awareness Week

Brainy Camps’ visibility took a giant leap forward last month when one of our families was interviewed by CNN for Autism Awareness Week. CNN reporter, Amanda Sansone, visited the home of the Gormans, one of our Camp Connect ASD families. Patrick and his mom, Karen, were interviewed about Asperger’s syndrome and Camp Connect ASD. Susan Mehlman, Brainy Camps assistant director and Audrey Scully, Children’s National Health System clinic coordinator and Camp Connect nurse, also were interviewed. While Audrey”s input did not make it to the final cut, the piece remains a brief and wonderful introduction to Camp Connect ASD and what kids with high functioning autism disorder can gain in seven short days at camp. It aired at various times to different TV markets and as a result we received calls of interest from all over the country. Thank you goes out to our good friend Sarah Henderson for making the connection with CNN and letting them know about our camp for kids with ASD.
