2018 Race for Every Child: Join Us!!
Brainy Camps 2018 has come and gone and, without question, it was one of our best ever!! With over 500 campers, 86 volunteers and more than 50 medical staff, we all had a blast at the Blue Ridge School in St. George, VA.
And now it is time to turn our attention to the future, and not just to our 2019 camp season. As many of you know, Children’s National has bought us a campsite! As of the beginning of August, we are the proud owners of 129 acres of beautiful land in Upper Marlboro, MD, less than 30 miles from Children’s National in DC.
With an eye to our projected opening of our new campsite in 2020, we have already started putting together our plans and schedules for summer 2019. Our plan is to return to the Blue Ridge School for one more summer and enjoy the beautiful location, wonderful food and welcoming environment we found there.
To kick off our upcoming camp season, we are participating in our first fundraiser of the year, the Race For Every Child. The Race is to be held on October 20, 2019 in the nation’s capital and is sponsored by Children’s National Health System to raise funds for its many departments, causes, and needs. Brainy Camps has created its own team for the Race, the Brainy Camps Team. We ask that you support us either by joining our team and asking your friends and loved ones to donate through you or by making a donation yourself to the Brainy Camps Team. While the team registration fee goes to Children’s National, every dollar raised after that goes directly to Brainy Camps.
Last year, we raised a whopping $17,130. This year, we are setting a higher goal of $25,000. We know it is huge but one we believe we can reach with the help of our many Brainy Camps friends and families.
To join or donate to the Race, please go to the Brainy Camps Team page. You are more than welcome to donate under a particular team member or to the Brainy Camps Team as a whole. Every dollar you donate or raise brings us that much closer to our goal of $25,000 which will help us to fund the many camper scholarships needed for our 2019 season as well as support our programs and services throughout the year.
